Innodisk Unveils 128TB SSD: Revolutionizing the Industry with 14GBps Read Speeds

  • Innodisk launches PCIe Gen5 SSD series for AI and big data demands
  • Up to 128 terabytes of storage capacity with 14 gigabytes per second read speed designed for enterprise data centers.
  • New drives come with support for various shapes and sizes, offering improved security features along with better compatibility with VMware.

Innodisk has launched its inaugural PCIe Gen5 SSD lineup, aimed at capturing a significant share of the high-performance and profitable data center sector.

These new drives are engineered to cater to the requirements of AI model training, big data analysis, and various other data-heavy settings. They come with several form factor options such as U.2, EDSFF E1.S, E3.S, along with the more recent addition—the E3.L—providing adaptability across an extensive spectrum of corporate and data center applications.

Innodisk stated, "To maintain superior quality and stay aligned with current market trends, the PCIe Gen5 SSD seeks to improve compatibility with leading industry data center standards like the OCP Data Center NVMe SSD specification version 2.0."

Fast read/write speeds

Based on the PCIe Gen5 x4 interface, Innodisk claims that these new 128TB drives can reach read velocities of up to 14GB/s and write velocities of up to 10GB/s.

The firm claims that these PCIe Gen5 SSDs have been designed for seamless integration with industry norms, providing compatibility with VMware setups and other virtualized infrastructures to boost efficiency.

Enterprises managing large-scale or multi-tiered deployments will benefit from features like NVMe-MI for streamlined SSD management and multi-namespace support, helping to ensure scalable, efficient operations, Innodisk says.

The SSDs also include advanced security mechanisms. Secure Boot technology checks digital signatures during firmware updates, blocking unauthorized modifications and ensuring only verified firmware is executed.

The Innodisk PCIe Gen5 SSD series is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2025, but there's no word on pricing as of yet.
